Samsung Chemical Co., Ltd., founded in 1982 as Samsung Chemical, has established itself as a leading company in Korea’s PE products sector (zipper bags, sanitary gloves, sanitary bags, roll bags, sanitary aprons, and kimchi storage bags).

Recently, leveraging the technological expertise and manufacturing know-how accumulated through years of OEM production for major domestic companies, Samsung Chemical has introduced its own brand products such as EZN slider standing bags, air fryer parchment paper, and sanitary gloves. It also drew attention with the launch of “Firefox,” an eco-friendly camping charcoal product made from coconuts. Currently, all product lines are distributed at Costco stores nationwide and are recognized by consumers as highly satisfying products.
CEO Shin Eon-gi stated, “Through the registration of multiple patents and utility models, we have been recognized by customers for providing the best quality at competitive prices. With creative thinking, we will continue to develop new products and diversify our business to proactively respond to market changes.”
Meanwhile, Samsung Chemical has achieved steady annual growth of more than 20% in sales through continuous new product launches and plans to consolidate its five factories into a single site. The company has already secured land for the new facility and plans to expand and relocate in the second half of next year. With domestic and international demand for sanitary gloves rising due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company aims to maximize synergy by establishing a one-stop system covering “raw material input – extrusion – processing – packaging – box packing.”
CEO Shin emphasized, “This investment is a measure to secure a dominant position in the domestic market and not lose ground to low-priced Chinese products. The more competition intensifies, the more we will accelerate research and new technology development.”
Although the company has established automated systems, its workforce has not decreased; instead, it has increased every year. This is because, alongside launching new businesses, Samsung Chemical has been reallocating existing employees to new product lines while also hiring additional staff. CEO Shin added, “It is essential that the government provides greater support and diverse policies to enable young people to learn field technologies.”
